Solar systems, both commercial and agricultural are made up using a number of components: the solar panels, an inverter, and existing consumer unit and a meter. Solar generates electric, which helps save on energy bills, as well as qualifying for F.I.T and export income, and is therefore a great way or generating free green electricity (as well as getting paid for it).
How do business solar panels work?
- Solar panels, usually roof mounted, but sometimes ground mounted, are made up of cells that convert sunlight, and even daylight into DC (Direct Current) electricity throughout daylight hours.
- The DC electricity runs through the Inverter, which then converts it into the AC (Alternating Current) electricity.
- The AC electricity travels from the inverter to the electric panel which then goes into your business or farm to power electrical appliances such as office equipment, or machinery like grain driers. The electric panel may also be named a ‘breaker box’.
- Any electricity that you do not use is exported back to the grid for others to use, which you will get paid for every kWh that you export.
